Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus and it again spreading at high speed in 2021.
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment depends on the age group. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness among the older age groups.
It is said that the best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads by touching and many more. WHO has given instructions to protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face while you are at work or at home proper hygiene is needed. It is well said that "Prevention is better than cure", but in the countries with dense population where most of the population are labor earning hand to mouth could prevent themselves? Could it be possible to Lockdown the whole nation again?
Through researches it came to know that the COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes at public places, workplace or at home, so it is important that you also practice respiratory etiquette by coughing under your elbow, keep wet or dry tissue papers with yourself and use of face masks. Maintaining social distance in densely populated countries is quite next to impossible but still we to have to maintain for our own sake.
To prevent infection and to slow down the process of transmission of COVID-19, do the following steps as here under:
- Wash your hands regularly/frequently with soap and water, or clean them with sanitizer which is alcohol-based hand rub.
- Maintain at least 1 meter distance between you and people coughing or sneezing at the metro station, marketplace, office or at home.
- Avoid touching your face without sanitizing your hands properly.
- Keep face mask and tissue papers with you to cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
- Mostly try to stay home if you feel unwell or If your employer allow you to work from home.
- Most important things is to refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.
- People should practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.
